Set Up Finish Line Camera

The finish line camera equipment consistes of the following:

  • Midlands Pointing iPad Pro in case with tripod attachment
  • Tripod
  • iPad packaging
  • Charging Lead
  1. Erect the tripod at a suitable spot on the finish line. If possible, an elevated position is preferable to allow direct line of site to horses on the far side of the course. It does not need to be with the Judge but nearby is useful if they need to refer to it.
  2. If the course is windy then it may be necessary to secure the tripod in place using a weight or string attached to the hook on the central column.
  3. Attach the iPad to the tripod in the landscape position.
  4. Switch the iPad on (hold top button, left hand-side until Apple logo appears)
  5. Tap Camera icon in Dock at bottom of home screen.
  6. Select Slo-mo option.
  7. Start video when horses are a few lengths from the finish line using round button on right of screen.
  8. Stop video when horses have all passed using same round button.
  9. Replay a race by tapping the small thumbnail below the round button. You will then see the most recent videos in "timeline" form at the bottom of the screen. The most recent is the furthest to the right. Tap in and then you can using your finger on the timeline to scroll/scrub through the video.
  10. Repeat for each race.
  11. Do not delete or edit the videos please. They are sorted and sent to the PPA after each meeting.
  12. IMPORTANT - After last race ensure the iPad goes back to either Nico or James as instructed please. This way we can make sure it gets to the next meeting. IF neither of them are available please ensure the equipment goes to the Secretary of the meeting.
